Jive Label Group
The Jive record label was founded in 1977 by Clive Calder. It was know for its successes with Hip Hop artists in the 80's and teen pop and boy bands in the late 90's. It originated from the UK but its location is in New York New York. Its parent company is Sony Music Entertainment and the following artists have all been signed to Jive;

Def Jam records
The record label was founded in 1984 by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons, the parent company today is Universal Music Group. Their distributing labels are Island Def Jam (US) and Mercury Records (outside US). The label originates from the US and is located in New York City.
